107% Increase in Organic Traffic Within 6 Months (Not From Zero!)

How a Dubai-based visa services business doubled its organic clicks in six months – in a search landscape dominated by embassies, consulates, VFS, and BLS. By the end, the brand was ranking alongside official sources for its key queries. Sometimes above them.

About the Client
A visa services business serving the Dubai and wider GCC market. This wasn’t a zero-to-one story – the site already earned meaningful organic traffic, around 53,000 clicks in the six months before. Growing an already-working channel is a different discipline from launching one: every change risks what’s already ranking.
But the real story here is the category itself.
The Problem: Competing With Official Sources
Visa searches are among the hardest SERPs in existence for a private business. Type almost any visa-related query, and the results are owned by embassies, consulates, government portals, and the official processing giants – VFS Global and BLS International. Google gives these sources enormous inherent authority: they’re official, they’re trusted, and for many queries they’re the definitive answer.
A private service provider doesn’t get to outrank that landscape by default. Most never appear near it at all.
On top of the category difficulty, the site’s own growth had settled: average position at 12.3 – page two – and a 3.5% CTR that meant the site was seen far more often than it was chosen.
What We Did
We won’t detail the full playbook here – it’s the product of years of working in this exact category, and it’s what clients hire us for. But the shape of it:
Full-funnel coverage. Content was built for every stage of the journey – the research questions people ask first, the comparison stage where they evaluate options, and the direct transactional queries where decisions happen. Each layer fed the next, so a researcher became an enquirer on the same site.
Being genuinely more useful than the official result. Embassies publish requirements; they don’t answer the hundred practical questions real applicants have. That gap — between official information and actual human questions – is where a service brand can earn rankings the giants can’t defend. We built the client into the most complete, current, and understandable answer in the category.
Conversion paths matched to how the GCC buys. Rankings became revenue because every commercial page offered the routes this market actually uses – WhatsApp, direct call, and contact form. That’s a large part of why traffic growth turned into a 40% conversion lift instead of just bigger analytics numbers.
Protecting the base. With 53K clicks already flowing, existing rankings were treated as assets under management – improved carefully, never gambled – while aggressive expansion happened on new ground.
The content programme also earned recognition beyond rankings: the brand’s content was picked up and featured by multiple leading UAE publications – authority that compounds everything else.
Results
Six months compared against the previous six (Google Search Console):
- 110K clicks, up from 53K (+107%)
- 2.6M impressions, up from 1.52M (+71%)
- CTR 4.2%, up from 3.5% – the same visibility, meaningfully more chosen
- Average position 10.8, improved from 12.3
- +40% growth in overall business conversions – enquiries via WhatsApp, calls, and forms
- Rankings alongside – and at times above – embassy, consulate, VFS, and BLS results for key category queries
- Featured by multiple leading UAE publications
That second-to-last line is the one we’re proudest of. When a private brand appears above official government sources for queries in their own category, it means Google has judged that page the more helpful answer. There is no stronger validation of content quality in SEO.
And note the shape of the growth: impressions rose 71%, but clicks rose 107%. The site didn’t just appear more – it got chosen more, against the most trusted names in the category.

Key Takeaways
- Category giants and official sources are not unbeatable. They answer the query; they rarely answer the person. That gap is winnable ground.
- Ranking above an embassy for its own category queries is Google’s strongest endorsement – earned through usefulness, not authority.
- Traffic only matters if the enquiry path fits the market. WhatsApp and call options turned GCC visibility into a 40% conversion lift.
- A site with existing traffic is an asset portfolio. Protect what ranks, expand where there’s nothing to lose.
