How a service-based business in the GCC market nearly quadrupled its organic traffic in six months — with the growth flowing to the pages that convert, not just the blog. Conversions rose 63%.

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Market: GCC
  • Industry: Service-based business (YMYL niche)

About the Client

A service-based business operating in the GCC – in a YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) category, where Google holds content to its highest standard. In these niches, rankings aren’t won with volume; they’re won with accuracy, trust, and content that genuinely helps people make significant decisions.

That standard shaped everything about how we approached this engagement.

The Problem

Traffic isn’t the goal; enquiries are. When we started, organic clicks averaged around 8,500 per six months, and too little of that traffic reached the pages where customers actually decide.

And because this is a YMYL niche, the usual shortcut – publishing volumes of thin informational content – wasn’t just ineffective; it was risky. Google actively demotes YMYL sites that publish without demonstrating expertise and trust.

Our Approach

We built the strategy around the full funnel – but weighted it deliberately toward the middle, where research turns into intent.

Mid-Funnel First

Most SEO programmes start at the top (broad informational blogs) or the bottom (service pages) and ignore the middle. We inverted that. The core of this strategy was mid-funnel content – comparison, process, cost, and “how to choose” queries – the searches people make when they’ve understood their problem and are actively evaluating solutions. These pages did the heavy lifting, capturing users at the moment of consideration and moving them toward enquiry.

Converting Mid-Funnel Into Lower-Funnel

Every mid-funnel page was built with a path down: internal links, clear next steps, and service-page connections that turned readers into enquiries. The result shows in the numbers – traffic grew 277%, but conversions grew 63% because the traffic was arriving mid-decision, one step from acting.

Top-Funnel as Support, Not Strategy

Informational content wasn’t ignored – it was given a supporting role. Top-funnel informational queries built topical authority and fed the mid-funnel pages through internal linking, signalling to Google that the site genuinely covers its subject. In a YMYL niche, that demonstrated depth is what earns the right to rank for the queries that convert.

Results

Six months compared against the previous six (Google Search Console):

  • 32.2K organic clicks, up from 8.54K (+277%)
  • 556K impressions, up from 156K (+256%)
  • CTR 5.8%, up from 5.5%
  • +63% increase in conversions
  • Traffic concentrated on mid- and bottom-funnel pages – growth that enquires, not just reads

One honest note on average position: it moved from 8.8 to 14. That’s what rapid expansion looks like — hundreds of new queries entering the results at lower positions while established rankings held. Visibility widened first; positions climb next.

Key Takeaways

  • The middle of the funnel is the most underrated real estate in SEO. Comparison and evaluation queries capture people mid-decision — and they convert.
  • In YMYL niches, trust is the ranking factor. Demonstrated expertise across the topic earned the visibility that thin content never could.
  • Top-funnel content works best as infrastructure — building authority that powers the pages that convert, rather than chasing traffic for its own sake.
  • A funnel isn’t three separate content types. It’s one system: informational pages feed consideration pages, consideration pages feed enquiries.
